Position: Program Coordinator - Abrazando Nuestras Raíces

About ACIJ:
The Alabama Coalition for Immigrant Justice (ACIJ) is a network of individuals and organizations working for the rights
and dignity of all people by cultivating just policies, encouraging grassroots leadership and participation, building
alliances, and amplifying the voices and contributions of immigrants in Alabama.

 

Position summary:

ACIJ is seeking a program coordinator to support our family reunification program, Abrazando Nuestras Raíces and
organizational statistician. They will work directly with community members, leaders, staff, and Mexican government
officials. Experience with data management and development of community surveys. This job requires a strong
commitment to the work; patience and deep respect for community members; ability to communicate clearly and
professionally; and experience with Google Drive and Microsoft Excel.

 

Core responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate with government officials to determine state-specific requirements and deadlines.

  • Collaborate with organizers and community leaders to host community information sessions.

  • Communicate with applicants to make sure all documents are correct and on file.

  • Work with financial staff to ensure accurate accounting of fees and donations.

  • Maintain accurate records of program participants in Excel and in the office.

  • Make travel arrangements for groups of parents from Mexico to Alabama.

  • Stay in contact with applicants and interested members to keep them updated of dates and deadlines.

  • Submit weekly work reports to Executive Director, along with schedule of upcoming events.

  • Other responsibilities as determined by the Executive Director.

 

Ideal qualifications and qualities:

  • Strong commitment to ACIJ’s goal of building a powerful justice movement for immigrants in Alabama.

  • Has experience building strong relationships with affected immigrant communities and leaders.

  • Ability to build consensus among diverse groups; strong interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and be accountable to work plans with limited supervision.

  • Willingness to travel for meetings and events.

  • Full-time access to reliable transportation.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

  • Fluency in Spanish required, English proficiency a plus
